On the road to help Cork companies beat the crunchCase Study PT Technologies, a leading provider of solvents for surface preparation and cleaning in the power, telecoms and aerospace industries, has an annual turnover of €4.5 million. The original company was co-founded in 1982 by James O'Brien and evolved into PT Technologies in the late 90s following a technology transfer deal with a USA company. This resulted in a management buyout, leaving Mr.O'Brien as the managing director and principal shareholder, and a move to new company premises at Watergrasshill, where 24 people are currently employed. |

Award for innovative supplierAirbus in the UK has traditionally spent a staggering €3.2 million a year on chemical cleaning wipes to remove semi-cured sealant and grease smears from aircraft wings and components. Now a change of supplier has saved Airbus €750,000 per annum, improved processes, health and safety and recycling. Steven Peers, local commodity group manager for composite and consumables, paints and sealants, has been so impressed by the way PT Technologies has responded to Airbus' specialist needs that he has presented James O'Brien, the managing director, with an Airbus Materials Supplier Award. |
